Camps/Retreats

Our camps are designed to be fun, exciting, engaging, and spiritual. For your comfort and enjoyment we recommend you label all items and pack the following.
What to bring . . . .
- Sleeping bag, pillow, sheets
- Towel, washcloth, and personal items
- Play clothes (jeans, shorts, long and short sleeve shirts. Note: some activities are messy. Pack accordingly.
- Extra socks, 2 pair of shoes (one for getting wet)
- Rain jacket or rain poncho
- Modest swimwear and t-shirt cover
- Dirty clothes bag (labeled please!). Trash bags break easily, an old pillow case works best.
- Bible, notebook, pen or pencil
- Bug spray and sunscreen
- Flashlight with extra batteries
Optional . . .
- Canteen money. Please DO NOT pack canteen money; it must be turned in at registration
- Disposable camera. Please no expensive cameras.
What NOT to bring . . . .
- Electronics entertainment devices (iPods, GameBoys, Radios, etc.)
- Cell Phones (Some camps require cell phones to be checked in during registration.)
- Medications other than prescriptions
- Food/drinks (it will attract unwanted critters)
- Fireworks
- Knives
- Expensive jewelry and watches
Canteen
Campers can purchase a variety of snacks during designated canteen time (up to three per day). Snack prices range from $ .50 - 1.00. We recommend campers bring $10.00 - $20.00. Unused canteen money will be returned to the camper upon check-out.
Campers will also have the opportunity to purchase camp t-shirts, hats, water bottles, Picture DVD, etc. during check-in.
Camp Office Phone Calls
The camp office is open Monday thru Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. After 5:00 pm messages will be received and replies issues as needed. Please DO NOT call and ask to talk with your child unless it is an emergency, nor ask your child to call you. If a child does need to communicate with a parent, his/her counselor will seek permission from the program administrator.
How Can I Communicate With My Camper?
Campers always enjoy getting encouraging mail! To send email to your camper, address it to CampKirkwood@aol.com with your camper's NAME and CABIN in the subject line. Emails are downloaded daily. Due to a virus risk, emails will be deleted if they contain attachments.

Prescription Medication
ALL medications MUST be turned in at check-in. Please check that medications listed on the health form are current and accurate. Also, please notify the medical personnel of any recent exposure to or current infectious diseases.
